Board of Education Seeking Applicants

The Fayetteville Board of Education is seeking applicants interested to serve as a school board member for Zone 4 following the resignation of Traci Farrah. Zone 4 includes an area of the northwest and center portions of the city generally along part of the attendance zones for Holcomb and Asbell Elementary Schools and a portion of Root Elementary Schools south of Township Ave. from Gregg Ave. to past the Gulley Park area.


Ms. Farrah has announced her resignation from the Board of Education effective at the end of the day of June 30, 2019.  Ms. Farrah was first elected to the Fayetteville School Board in September of 2012.


The school board will appoint a replacement for Ms. Farrah’s position at the end of July of 2019.  Pursuant to Arkansas law, the term for this appointment shall last until the next school election, which will be March 3, 2020. The March 3, 2020 school election will include the Zone 4 position to complete the remainder of the term which expires in March of 2022.

. The letter of consideration and résumé from interested applicants must be received by noon of July 12, 2019 and should include: 
  • Why the applicant is interested in serving as a Board of Education member,
  • How the applicant feels qualified for this service,
  • The applicant’s time availability and dedication to this service, and
  • What the applicant believes are the 3 most important issues facing the Board of Education in the next few years.
